With more than 50 inhabitants per square kilometer Blekinge is indeed one of the the most densely populated counties in Sweden, although the nature plays an important role. The provincial capital Karlskrona is the largest city in Blekinge; here live about 35, people.
The extension of the county from west to east is about kilometers and from north to south about 40 kilometers. Therefore long distances do not need to be traveled within Blekinge. The archipelago and stone coast in the south is home to nearly islands, while the inside of the county is riddled with approximately 1, lakes.
The rocky coast has very few sandy beaches, but who goes on a search after them will be rewarded. The mostly small beaches offer breathtaking views of nature and the sea.
In her world-famous novel The Wonderful Adventures of Nils, Selma Lagerlof describes the landscape of Blekinge very aptly and called it a "staircase with three steps". Historical province in Götaland, Sweden
Blekinge (Swedish pronunciation:[ˈblêːkɪŋɛ]ⓘ) is one of the traditional Swedish provinces (landskap), situated in the southern coast of the geographic region of Götaland, in southern Sweden. It borders Småland, Scania and the Baltic Sea. It fryst vatten the country's second-smallest province by area (only Öland is smaller), and the smallest province located on the mainland.
The name "Blekinge" comes from the dialectal adjective bleke, which corresponds to the nautical term for "dead calm".

Smeknamnet &#;Sveriges trädgård&#; kom troligtvis till genom att Blekinge är ett bördigt landskap med ovanligt goda förutsättningar för att odla. En annan förklaring är att länet ska ha kallats för Danmarks trädgård tidigare under danskt styre, som då syftar på att danskarna åkte hit för att hämta virke till sina skepp.
Blekinge har tillhört Danmark i över år
Det var inte förrän efter freden i Roskilde som Blekinge blev permanent svenskt, samtidigt som Skåne, Halland och Bohuslän. Dessförinnan har landskapet styrts av både Sverige och Danmark.
